NASARA FOUNDATION’S PRIORITY PROGRAM AREAS​

Education

One of the core program areas of the Nasara Foundation centers around education, with a specific focus on public primary schools. Many students attending these schools lack essential learning materials and have worn-out resources. To address these issues and make a significant impact, the Foundation will execute essential projects through (annual) fundraising and educational support initiatives, including: 

• Kebbi State Girl-Child Education Summit

• Education Support Program (ESP) 

• A Meal a Child in School Project 

• The Nine School Years Sponsorship Project 

• STEM for Girls Project

• Back to School Initiative

Nasara Women Empowerment Program (N-WEP)

A primary goal of this foundation is to enhance women’s capacity, empower them, promote girl child education, and uphold women’s rights in our society’s political development.
Empowering women and youth – who together make up 62% of the global population – empowers us all. There are currently 4.6 billion women and youth in the world, A comprehensive empowerment scheme will be designed to cater to the needs and aspirations of women in our state. Under N-WEP, women will receive training in vocational skills, enterprise development, personal growth, and financial literacy.

Through the Nasara Foundation, a number of impactful programs have been designed to enhance the lives of women in Kebbi State encompassing skill development programs, medical outreach efforts ensuring access to essential healthcare services, educational support programs offering opportunities for quality education, and empowerment projects that foster personal and financial growth. The work of Nasara Foundation will continue to aim at tangible improvements in the status and well-being of women in the state. Women who benefit from these initiatives will not only find economic empowerment but also a renewed sense of confidence and self-worth, ultimately contributing to the social and economic development of Kebbi State.

Youth Capacity Development Program

Nigeria has the largest population of youth in the world with a median age of 18.1 years. According to the NBS-FMYD Youth Survey Report, about 70% of the population are under 30, and 42% are under the age of 15. An average 3 million of this number are in Kebbi State, they are more likely to be at a disadvantage in terms of health, education or jobs and other economic opportunities.
Effective youth capacity building hinges on involving local youth actively in planning, decision-making, and community betterment efforts. This adaptability is crucial for managing, utilizing, and enhancing available resources to address local issues and needs.
Achieving this capacity helps ensure stable governance, social justice, gender equality, sustainable livelihoods, social inclusion, and equitable education for all citizens, particularly young people. The major goals of this program include:

  • Understanding and measuring youth development efforts Assessing local assets and needs
  • Facilitating coordinated action among youth groups
  • Providing specific training for community youth groups
  • Developing visions and plans to meet the overall needs of our youth.

 

The Nasara Youth Leadership Institute (NYLI), our flagship
program for youth capacity development, will host the 14
quarterly Youth Leadership Training and Engagement Forum to prepare young people for leadership roles, peacebuilding, and community development.
