Nasara Women Development Foundation, also known as Nasara Foundation, has taken a significant step toward empowering young girls by donating sanitary pads, exercise books, and cash gifts to 1,000 schoolgirls in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nigeria.
As part of the ‘Pad Up 1000 Girls in Kebbi’ initiative held in celebration of the International Day of the Girl-Child, Nasara Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women and girls and building a brighter future for youth. The beneficiaries included 500 girls from Salamatu Hussaini Government Girls Secondary School (SHGGSS), and 500 from Government Girls (Unity) College, Birnin Kebbi.
In her address titled, ‘Empowering the Girl-Child: A Pathway to a Brighter Future’, Nasara Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Hajiya Bilkisu Muhammad Nasir emphasized the Foundation’s dedication to improving school enrollment, reducing learning poverty, and fostering women’s empowerment.
“By addressing the challenges girls face during menstruation, we can help ensure they are empowered to pursue their education fully, free from interruptions, and are better prepared for a successful future. We believe this initiative will contribute significantly to the long-term goal of fostering gender equality in education and improving health and empowerment outcomes for young girls in Kebbi State. ”
Some of the guests at the event are the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Abubakar Magaji, Personal Assistant to the Founder of Nasara Foundation, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Alhaji Usman Abubakar as well as members of the Board of Trustees, including Bashar Umar Atta and Abdulrasheed Bala.
