Nasara Foundation Partners Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to Promote School Enrollment with Kit Distribution

The wife of Kebbi State Governor and Founder of Nasara Foundation, Hajia Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris has distributed school kits to 200 pupils in Tarasa and Gawassu primary schools as part of her Foundation’s efforts to boost school enrollment.

The initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, was aimed at encouraging children to attend schools and improve educational outcomes.

Hajia Zainab emphasized her passion for ensuring that all children have access to education, stating that this pilot scheme would be expanded to cover all 21 local government areas in the state.

Over 200 pupils, including 50 boys and 50 girls in each school, benefited from the distribution.

The state ministry would also conduct a headcount of pupils in these schools to assess enrollment rates and inform future planning.

She assured that if enrollment targets are met, the government would build six secondary schools in the respective communities next year.

The wife of the Governor urged community members to monitor teacher punctuality and report any misconduct to the appropriate authorities.

She also appealed to stakeholders, including parents and traditional rulers, to support increased school enrollment for the betterment of society.

Speaking at the event, the state Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad-Bande highlighted the state government’s significant investments in education.

Dr. Muhammad-Bande said that Governor Nasir Idris had implemented various initiatives, such as school feeding programs, enhanced feeding for boarding schools, and support for educational conferences.

She added that the Governor had also approved the domestication of the National Assembly Act, extending the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65 years by birth and from 35 to 40 years of service.

The distributed materials included school uniforms, exercise notebooks, pencils, cleaners, school bags, and sandals.
